The pieces of the hub

Services and hosting

The hub does not run on its own machines. The backend and the sites are hosted by outside services, and a few more outside services do jobs the hub does not do itself: keeping files, taking payments, reporting errors. This page names each one and what it does for the hub.

Description
Service What it does
Railway Hosts the backend, as adh-backend, one service per environment, and hosts Hydra.
Vercel Hosts the sites.
PostgreSQL The database, with pgvector for embeddings. On a developer's machine it is adh-local-pg on port 5433, database adh_<branch>, reached as the app role.
Ory Hydra The OpenID Connect server that signs people in, one per environment.
Cloudflare R2 Object storage, where uploaded files are kept.
Stripe Payments. Each ecosystem brings its own Stripe key.
GlitchTip Error reporting, through the Sentry SDK.
Ollama The local model server the AI node talks to.

The backend runs in environments, in order from least to most settled: testing, staging and production, each with a host of its own. On a developer's machine the backend listens on port 3000 and the sites are served by a script that ships with them.
