Uploads and downloads

An upload puts a file into your workspace. A download gets one back. When you upload a file, the hub tells your browser where to send it, and when the transfer finishes the file is recorded as an attachment you can find, link to and share. A download hands a file back to you by its address.

Description

Files are kept in object storage outside the hub's database. Each file is recorded once, with the key that finds it there.

Every account has a storage quota, and Usage, under Settings, reports how much of it is used. When the hub runs without object storage configured, uploads and downloads are switched off and the hub logs a warning saying so.
